BMW is taking a major step in fully integrating the Alpina brand into its operations. Three years after acquiring Alpina, the automaker has filed a new trademark application for an updated Alpina logo — signaling a significant shift in both branding and production strategy.
New Alpina Logo Officially Registered
The redesigned logo was officially submitted to the German Patent and Trademark Office on July 23, 2025. Records also show that BMW had previously registered the same logo in Uruguay, Costa Rica, Thailand, and with the European Union Intellectual Property Office back on January 21, 2025.

The most noticeable change in the new design is the removal of the central shield motif. It’s been replaced by a round layout that closely resembles BMW’s iconic circular logo. While the throttle valve and camshaft symbols remain intact, the overall design has shifted from a 3D look to a simpler, flat 2D style.
The current agreement between BMW and Alpina is set to expire at the end of 2025. Until now, BMW has handled pre-assembly of Alpina models, which were then fine-tuned by Alpina — a complex and costly process. Starting in 2026, BMW will take over full production of Alpina vehicles at its own manufacturing facilities.
This move will mark the complete integration of Alpina’s operations under the BMW umbrella. The logo redesign and ongoing trademark filings underscore the company’s preparations for this new era.
