The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handheld consoles, announced at Microsoft’s Xbox Showcase event, go on sale on August 20, 2025. The next-generation portable gaming devices, developed in collaboration with Asus and Microsoft, will be officially unveiled at Gamescom 2025. Pre-orders will begin simultaneously with the event.
ROG Xbox Ally series coming in August
Pricing information for the ROG Xbox Ally and the higher-end Xbox Ally X has been revealed. According to leaks confirmed by Dealabs and Billbil-kun, the standard Xbox Ally model will be available for pre-order for €599, while the Xbox Ally X will be available for pre-order for €899. Both models are based on AMD’s next-generation Ryzen Z2 series APUs.

The Xbox Ally comes with a Ryzen Z2 processor. It includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 60Wh battery. The Xbox Ally X features the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. The model, offering more hardware power, features 24GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an 80Wh battery. Both models feature a 7-inch display with a 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The new devices run on Windows 11 and support third-party gaming platforms such as Game Pass, Steam, and Epic Games. The handheld consoles offer direct access to PC games, taking the portable gaming experience a step further.
The Xbox Ally series, which will be featured at Gamescom 2025, is positioned as part of Microsoft’s strategy to expand its presence in the handheld console market. Attendees at the event will be able to experience the consoles firsthand. New games such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Sea of Thieves, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will also be available to test alongside the consoles.
