Xiaomi continues its aggressive rise in the electric car market. The company delivered more than 30,000 electric vehicles in July, breaking its own record in a short time. However, this success also brought with it a surge in demand, straining production capacity. The strong demand for Xiaomi’s new SUV model, the YU7, has extended the delivery timeline until the second half of 2026.
Xiaomi SU7 Model Reaches Record Demand
On June 26, the official launch of the YU7, 200,000 locked-in orders were received within just three minutes. Within the first 18 hours, this number exceeded 240,000. Demand has exceeded the company’s current production capacity, pushing the system to its limits.

According to current data on Xiaomi’s app, customers ordering a YU7 currently face a wait of up to 59 weeks to receive the vehicle. This suggests deliveries could be completed in the second half of 2026 at the earliest.
To alleviate this pressure, the company launched the hiring process for its second phase of production facilities at the beginning of July. The goal is to rapidly increase production capacity. However, these steps may not be sufficient to alleviate the order burden in the short term.
It is not yet known how this pressure on production will affect quality control processes. Whether the high production pace will be reflected in the overall quality of the vehicles will become clear in the coming period.
The Xiaomi YU7 is the company’s second electric vehicle after the SU7 and its first significant foray into the SUV segment. The base version, equipped with a 96.3 kWh battery and offering a range of 835 km according to CLTC standards, went on sale in China with a starting price of 253,500 yuan (approximately 29,900 euros).
The dual-motor, all-wheel drive Pro version offers a range of 770 km for 279,900 yuan (about 32,900 euros), while the Max version offers 508 kW of power, a range of 760 km and a price tag of 329,900 yuan (about 38,800 euros).
