Following the launch of the Mate 70 series last November, Huawei is now working on its successor, the Mate 80 lineup. Recent leaks suggest that the upcoming series will feature a notable new addition.
Huawei Mate 80 series comes with active cooling system
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, Huawei is developing an active cooling system for the Mate 80 series. Combined with a high-capacity silicon-carbon battery, this system is designed to boost performance during extended heavy workloads and gaming sessions.

The design will reportedly include a mini fan and an air duct to cool the processor and camera modules. The cooling system will be positioned in the lower half of the camera housing, while the air duct will be located on the side. Despite this, the device will maintain water resistance, with airflow isolated from internal components to protect against dust and moisture.
The Mate 70 series used Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9020 processor, built on a 7nm architecture and offering upper mid-range performance. The Mate 80 series is also expected to feature a Huawei-designed chipset — likely one more powerful than the Kirin 9020.
