Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, has surfaced in performance tests just weeks before its official launch. The tests were reportedly conducted on a Samsung device with the model number SM-S947U, believed to be the Galaxy S26 Edge.

According to Geekbench 6.4 results, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 scored 3,393 in single-core and 11,515 in multi-core performance. This marks roughly a 9% improvement in single-core scores compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, which recorded 3,125 single-core and 9,932 multi-core points in the same benchmark.

The tested unit’s prime core was capped at 4.0 GHz, below its maximum potential of 4.74 GHz, suggesting the final performance could be even higher. The chip retains its 6+2 CPU core configuration, with six efficiency cores running at 3.63 GHz. Additionally, it supports the new SME instruction set, offering extra advantages for AI and machine learning tasks.

The Galaxy S26 Edge prototype used in testing features 12 GB of RAM and runs Android 16 along with an early version of Samsung’s One UI 8.0. Even without operating at full capacity, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 significantly outperformed its rival, the Exynos 2600, which achieved 2,155 single-core and 7,788 multi-core points in Geekbench. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be officially unveiled on September 23 at the Snapdragon Summit.
