Tesla has introduced the new six-seat Model Y L version, which has been highly sought after in the Chinese market. This new model stands out with its long wheelbase and improved interior. It achieved great success, receiving nearly 40,000 orders on its first day. SDN Founder Hakkı Alkan described the vehicle.
Key Features and Improvements
Long Wheelbase: A 186 mm longer wheelbase than the standard Model Y offers a more spacious interior.
6-Seat Configuration: Two captain’s chairs in the second row and two additional seats in the third row provide a total seating capacity of six.
Enhanced Interior: Features include a larger 16-inch screen, adjustable front headrests, and retractable armrests controlled from the rear seat monitor.
Ample Storage: The second and third-row seats fold easily to provide over 2,500 liters of storage.
Range and Performance: With a CLTC range of 751 km, it is Tesla’s longest-range SUV. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
New Suspension System: The continuously variable dampers found in the Model 3 Performance are also used in the Model Y L, improving ride comfort.
New Color Option: A new Gold color option is available exclusively for the Chinese market. The Model Y L’s success in the Chinese market demonstrates Tesla’s strategy of adapting to local trends and staying competitive in the market.
However, it remains unclear whether this long-wheelbase version will be available in the US. Elon Musk has previously stated that the six-seat Model Y may not be released in the US. This is attributed to production costs in the US and Tesla’s tendency to simplify existing models rather than adding new options.
