Hyundai’s popular B-segment representative, the new Hyundai i20, is preparing to hit the road with its new generation. The model, spotted under camouflage during test drives in Spain, gave the first hints of a radical change in its design. Spy photos reveal that the vehicle will completely abandon the curvaceous lines of the current generation, adopting a much sharper and more angular design language.
The New Hyundai i20 Is More Angular, More Aggressive
Despite the camouflage, the images published by Carscoops provide important information about the new i20’s overall silhouette. Hyundai is abandoning the soft lines that have long been associated with the model, aiming for a more modern and aggressive look. This design revolution appears to affect not only the exterior but also the interior. While no images of the interior have yet been released, this radical change in exterior design is expected to be reflected in the cabin, with a technologically updated cockpit.

Regarding engine options, one of the most anticipated topics, it has been reported that Hyundai is not currently planning a fully electric version. The new-generation i20 will continue its journey with updated and improved gasoline engines, as well as efficiency-enhancing hybrid powertrains. This strategy demonstrates that the model maintains its goal of appealing to a broad customer base.
The new Hyundai i20 is expected to be officially unveiled in 2026 and go on sale in many markets by 2027. However, the i20 will not be alone in its revamped segment. One of its main rivals, the Renault Clio, is also rumored to debut its new generation soon, sporting a similarly bold design. This will further intensify competition in the compact hatchback segment in the coming years.
