Google looks ready to overhaul its smart home ecosystem. A new report suggests that sharper Nest Cams, a new Doorbell, a Gemini-powered Home Speaker, and a fresh subscription rebrand are all on the way. If true, this could be Google’s most ambitious update in years.
2K Nest Cams and a smarter Doorbell
First up: cameras. Both the next-gen battery-powered Nest Cam and its wired indoor sibling are expected to get a jump from 1080p to 2K resolution. That means crisper video feeds for both security monitoring and recorded events.
There may even be new finishes on the table, with the wired version rumored to come in a bold “berry” red.

The subscription side is shifting, too. According to the leak, Google plans to retire the Nest Aware name in favor of Google Home Premium, alongside a new Premium Advanced tier.
It’s a logical rebrand that unifies everything under the “Google Home” name, something Google has been slowly working toward for years.
