YouTube is testing Gift Goals, a new revenue stream for content creators. Currently available only to broadcasters in the US, this new feature is available for vertical live broadcasts. It turns digital gifts sent by viewers into goals, allowing broadcasters to increase viewer engagement and revenue.
YouTube is introducing Gift Goals
YouTube currently offers creators a variety of revenue models, including ads, channel memberships, Super Chat, and paid stickers. The platform now adds Gift Goals to these options. With this new tool, broadcasters can reward their viewers for reaching their designated donation goals.

This system works like a more comprehensive version of the “Goals” feature introduced for Super Chat last year. This gives all live stream creators the opportunity to increase viewer engagement by setting goals during their broadcasts. YouTube aims to gamify this system and encourage viewer participation.
The platform is also testing a leaderboard where viewers are ranked based on their donations. A new live donation option called “Jewels” is also being rolled out to more users. Features like these aim to increase publishers’ revenue by encouraging competition among viewers.
YouTube announced that the Gift Goals feature is currently only being tested in the US. It’s expected to be rolled out to creators worldwide in the future. What are your thoughts on this? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
