Xiaomi has launched an urgent recall program for a popular Xiaomi power bank model sold in many markets, including Turkey. The Xiaomi 33W Power Bank 20000mAh with integrated cable, model number “PB2030MI,” was found to be at risk of overheating and fire in certain production batches.

Xiaomi power banks may explode

In an official statement, Xiaomi stated that the issue arose in a limited number of batches produced between August 2024 and September 2024. According to the statement, due to a problem with certain raw materials supplied by suppliers, these power banks may malfunction under certain usage scenarios. This malfunction can lead to dangerous battery overheating and a potential fire hazard.

The company stated, “While the number of known cases is low, we have decided to recall the affected power banks to maintain our high product quality standards. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Check with Serial Number
It’s crucial for users who own this power bank, which is available for sale in Turkey through Mi Turkey’s official website and various e-commerce platforms, to check their devices.

Xiaomi has created a serial number checker page on its official website to help users determine if their power bank belongs to the at-risk series. Users can instantly check the status by entering their device’s serial number on this page. The company recommends immediately discontinuing the use of power banks in the at-risk group.
