As competition intensifies in the phone market, Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to break its traditional launch schedule and launch a month early. A post shared by reliable leaker Digital Chat Station has almost confirmed the potential launch date for the Xiaomi 16 series, creating excitement in the tech world.
Xiaomi 16 series may arrive this month
Last year, the company, which unveiled the Xiaomi 15 series in October, was rumored to be rushing this year. The leak was fueled by the launch schedules of chipset manufacturers. Allegedly, MediaTek will unveil its new Dimensity 9500 processor on September 22nd, while its main rival, Qualcomm, will unveil the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on September 23rd.
The key point is that the first smartphone to use this new Snapdragon processor is expected to be released between September 24th and 26th. Following a long tradition in the industry, Xiaomi is usually the first brand to announce a phone with a new Snapdragon processor.
This has led to a tight timeframe for the Xiaomi 16 series. Tech enthusiasts on Weibo have even begun pointing to September 25th, noting that the launch is typically held on Thursdays.
The leaks aren’t limited to just the date. It’s rumored that the Xiaomi 16 series could launch with three different models this year:
- Xiaomi 16: 6.3-inch screen
- Xiaomi 16 Pro: 6.8-inch screen
- Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini (Temporary name): 6.3-inch screen
The possibility of a compact flagship model, especially one labeled “Mini,” stands out as an exciting development for users eagerly awaiting a powerful phone with a small screen.
This early launch is being interpreted as a strategic move by Xiaomi to avoid the flagship deluge expected in October. Several powerful models, including the Vivo X300, Honor Magic 8, OnePlus 15, Realme GT 8, and Redmi K90 series, are expected to launch in October. Xiaomi aims to grab the spotlight and get a leg up on its competitors with a launch at the end of September.
