Apple has established its position in the foldable product market. According to reports, the company’s first foldable phone, the iPhone, is expected to be released in 2026, while the larger-screen foldable iPad is expected to be released in 2028.
Apple is making a splash with its foldable devices
Market estimates indicate that Apple will sell 8 to 10 million units of its first foldable iPhone, due in 2026. This number is expected to rise to 25 million the following year.

Apple’s foldable iPhone is coming as part of the iPhone 18 series. Previously, it was rumored that a foldable iPad or MacBook would precede the foldable iPhone. However, recent information suggests that Apple is also working on an 18- to 20-inch foldable iPad, with this expected to arrive later.
To enhance durability, Apple will use ultra-thin cover glass on both models. Corning supplies this glass. General Interface Solutions (GIS) handles manufacturing processes such as cutting, cornering, inspection, and packaging.
The foldable iPad will reportedly carry a higher price tag than the foldable iPhone, and therefore, sales figures will be more limited.
This development also highlights Apple’s strategy for foldable devices. The company is entering the market later than its competitors. However, Apple is said to be using this delay to deliver a seamless and more durable product. This will intensify competition in the foldable phone market and could also shape the future of the market.
