Until now, Apple has preferred to indicate its phones’ battery capacities using metrics focused on user experience, such as video playback time, rather than milliampere-hours (mAh). However, thanks to European Union transparency regulations, Apple’s official product pages in Germany have revealed the battery capacities of the new iPhone 17 series in detail for the first time. Here are the details.
iPhone 17 Series Battery Capacities Revealed
At the bottom of the list, the iPhone Air boasts the smallest battery in the series. This is largely due to Apple sacrificing battery capacity to accommodate its ultra-thin titanium design.

Here are the battery capacities of the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air:
- iPhone 17: 3,692 mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro: 4,252 mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5,088 mAh
- iPhone Air: 3,149 mAh
While this may seem like a disadvantage on paper, Apple aims to make up for the difference with efficiency. The company claims the iPhone Air can offer up to 27 hours of video playback. This means it can easily last a day of daily use. This success is made possible by the power-saving design of the A19 Pro processor powering the device, Apple’s new N1 network chip, and the CX1 modem.
