As competition intensifies in the phone market, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has made a groundbreaking move. The company has officially announced that it will abandon its traditional model naming conventions and move directly to the 17 series after the 16 series. This strategic decision stems from its desire to compete directly with Apple’s newly introduced iPhone 17 series. With this announcement, it’s now confirmed that the new flagship models will be named the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and that they will be officially unveiled before the end of the month.
Xiaomi 17 Specifications Leaked
The first technical details about the Xiaomi 17, the standard model of the new series, which will also be available in the Turkish market, have been leaked. According to the leaks, the device will be powered by the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The phone is expected to feature a 6.3-inch 1.5K resolution 120Hz LTPO OLED display, and its most striking feature will be its battery. The Xiaomi 17 is rumored to come with a massive 7,000mAh battery, which will support 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

The phone, which also boasts a camera setup, will feature a triple rear camera setup: a 50MP wide-angle, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 50MP telephoto lens. The front camera will also feature a 32MP selfie camera. Other expected features include an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, the latest HyperOS 3 interface, and IP68/69 certification for water and dust resistance.
Xiaomi is expected to add a “17 Ultra” model to the series in 2026. The current flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, offers the best clue as to what this model will offer. As a reminder, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra pushed the boundaries of mobile photography with its 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with OIS, Leica-branded lenses, and exclusive “Photography Kit” accessory.
This model, which also stands out with its 6,000mAh battery and support for 90W wired and 80W wireless charging, is already raising expectations for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Xiaomi’s new naming strategy and ambitious features are sure to further intensify competition in the flagship segment.
