Aircraft engines TF6000, TF10000, and TF35000 coming
TEI, Turkey’s national powerhouse in aviation engines, showcased its strength at TEKNOFEST 2025. At the festival held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, Turkey’s first military turbofan engine, the TEI-TF6000, was run for the first time publicly on a mobile test cell. Festivalgoers witnessed the powerful roar of the engine, which had completed ground tests, and TEI announced that the engine would be run daily throughout the festival.
The TF10000, the Fighter Jet Engine, Priority
While the star of TEKNOFEST was the TF6000, TEI General Manager Mahmut Faruk Akşit stated that the priority was the TF10000, the afterburner version. The TF6000 engine will be used in unmanned aerial vehicles like the ANKA-3, while the TF10000, with its afterburner capability, will power platforms requiring high speeds like the KIZILELMA.
Akşit described the TF10000, which he said will be “released within a few years,” as “Turkey’s first real fighter jet engine,” emphasizing that they are working on technologies not previously developed in our country during this process.
Ultimate Goal: TF35000 for KAAN
TEI’s vision is not limited to these engines. The ultimate goal is the TF35000 engine, which will power the national combat aircraft KAAN. Akşit emphasized that this engine will not be an enlarged version of the TF10000. The TF35000 will have a unique design equipped with completely new and much more advanced technologies, tailored to the requirements of a 5th-generation fighter aircraft.
Mass Production Near for Helicopter and UAV Engines
In addition to turbofan engines, significant progress is being made in helicopter engines. It has been announced that the TS1400 engine developed for the GÖKBEY helicopter is nearing mass production and will enter service within a few years. It was also reported that a new engine project for a heavier-class helicopter than the GÖKBEY is underway. The reinforced PD200 engine, developed with Baykar for unmanned aerial vehicles, has also been delivered and undergoing flight tests.
