A closer look at the technological features of the semi-solid-state battery reveals that it was developed by QingTao Energy and contains only 5% liquid electrolyte. MG stated that the battery has undergone safety tests such as a 360-degree puncture test.

With an energy density of 180 Wh/kg, the battery maintains range 14 percent better than traditional lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in temperatures as cold as -7°C.
Built on SAIC’s E3 pure electric architecture, the new MG4’s exterior design features new projection-style headlights, a honeycomb grille, and an illuminated MG logo. The vehicle’s dimensions, measuring 4395 mm long, 1842 mm wide, 1551 mm high, and 2750 mm wheelbase, offer balanced proportions for the compact class. The interior features prominent digital displays.
Depending on the trim level, central displays are available in 10.25-inch, 12.8-inch, or 15.6-inch sizes. The infotainment system, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, also supports MG x OPPO Smart Connect technology.
The top-of-the-line driver assistance systems include 12 ultrasonic radars, four 360-degree cameras, and 8-megapixel front and rear cameras. Powered by the Horizon Journey J6e chip, this system offers features such as lane change assist, lane tracking, and smart parking assistance.

In terms of performance, the MG4 generates 120 kW (161 hp) of power and 250 Nm of torque with its integrated six-electromotor. Its maximum speed is announced as 160 km/h. Battery options include 42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh LFP batteries, providing a range of 437 km and 530 km, respectively. With fast charging support, the batteries charge from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.
Mass production of the MG4 Anxin Edition began in July, and pre-orders opened on August 5. Deliveries of this model, equipped with a semi-solid-state battery, will begin in China before the end of 2025. A release schedule for Europe and other markets has not yet been announced.
