Apple is now bringing the “Slow Charging” warning, which it introduced for iPhone users with iOS 18, to the Apple Watch with watchOS 26. This feature allows users to easily monitor charging speeds and troubleshoot potential issues. Here are Apple’s tips and warnings for fast charging your watch…
New feature for Apple Watches with watchOS 26
According to a new support document spotted by MacRumors and published by Apple this week, important details about the Apple Watch’s charging speed have been shared. According to this document, with watchOS 26, the Apple Watch will display a “Slow Charger” message in “Settings > Battery” when it detects that your charging experience could be improved.

Apple states that this warning doesn’t indicate a problem with your watch or charger; it simply states that your watch can charge faster by using a higher-wattage charger.
In the same document, under the “Charging your Apple Watch faster” section, if you see the “Slow Charger” warning, you should:
- Use a USB-C charger and cable with a higher power output.
- Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet. Avoid charging in places like USB hubs, computers, or car ports.
- Avoid charging in extreme conditions like extreme heat or cold.
Apple makes an important note about USB hubs: “If your charger has multiple ports or you charge while other devices are connected through a computer or USB hub, the maximum power output may be reduced.”
