Epic Games is introducing significant changes for Fortnite content creators. The company announced that, starting in December 2025, developers will be able to directly sell in-game items on their own islands. This change creates a new revenue stream for developers, in addition to the existing participation payments.
Fortnite Supports Content Creators
According to a statement from Epic Games, developers will receive 74 percent of the revenue from these sales starting in December 2025 and continuing until the end of 2026. This percentage will be updated to 37 percent by 2027. This change aims to increase participation in the in-game economy and create a more sustainable developer ecosystem.

With another change taking effect on November 1, 2025, developers who bring new or returning players to Fortnite will receive 75 percent of the in-game contributions these players generate during the first six months of their lives. Epic Games stated that this move is intended to increase user returns and encourage developers to contribute to the growth of the community.
A new section is being added to the Explore page, one of Fortnite’s main in-game navigation tools. This section, called the “Sponsored Area,” will allow developers to bid to feature their islands. Developers will receive a full share of the revenue generated from this section from November 2025 until the end of 2026. This share will decrease to 50% by 2027.
With the Developer Communities feature, which will be launched in the coming months, developers will be able to directly communicate updates, event announcements, and feedback requests about their content to players. This content will be available to players in a new area located in Island Lobbies, Island Pages, Developer Pages, and the Explore menu.
According to statistics shared by Epic Games, since the release of the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, a total of 11.2 billion hours of playtime have been recorded on more than 260,000 developer islands. Over $722 million has been paid to content creators during this time. The company announced that it will continue to invest in new creative tools to ensure this ecosystem continues to grow.
