Riot Games has announced that its long-awaited new fighting game, 2XKO, will be available for PC in early access on October 7th. Previously known as Project L, this game is a two-on-two team-based fighting game set in the League of Legends universe. The game will be free to play and will feature 10 playable characters at launch.
2XKO is officially here
2XKO features many familiar characters from League of Legends. Popular champions like Jinx, Yasuo, and Braum are featured in the early access roster. Riot stated that the number of characters will increase in the future and that new content will be added with regular updates. The presence of over 170 characters in the League of Legends universe suggests that 2XKO could have a very diverse roster in the future.
Similar to the Marvel vs. Capcom series, 2XKO features players who can compete solo or team up with friends. The game will offer a high level of mastery and depth. Early access also includes the launch of five seasons in 2026. Each season will introduce new champions, ranked resets, and new features like the Battle Pass.
The game’s launch will also bolster the competitive scene. As part of the program, called “First Impact,” 22 community tournaments will be sponsored through the end of 2025. Riot will contribute to each event’s prize pool.
This program will kick off with the Evo France event on October 10-12. While 2XKO is available exclusively on PC in early access, it will also be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles later.
