The veil of mystery surrounding Qualcomm’s newest mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which will power its 2026 Android flagships, has finally been lifted. This processor, which will debut today in China with the Xiaomi 17 series, has now been confirmed by Poco. Poco announced that it will use this new chipset in its upcoming flagship phone. Here are the details.
POCO F8 Ultra May Be Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
In an official social media post, Poco confirmed that its “next-generation flagship smartphone” will come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. While the company is still keeping the phone’s name under wraps, all signs point to the upcoming Poco F8 series.

Given that the Poco F7 Ultra previously carried the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s predecessor, logic suggests the new chip will debut in the Poco F8 Ultra. However, there’s not much definitive information about this device yet.
Meanwhile, the Poco F8 Pro is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi K90. Rumors suggest the Redmi K90 will feature a 6.59-inch flat RGB OLED LTPS panel with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also be equipped with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for security.
On the performance front, the Poco F8 Pro (and the Redmi K90) are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-released Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The device is also expected to feature features like a 7,100mAh battery with 100W fast charging, dual stereo speakers, a premium metal midframe, and an x-axis linear motor for enhanced haptic feedback.
