The blockbuster Avatar series returns to cinemas with its third installment. A trailer has been released for the new film, subtitled “Fire and Ash.” The film is expected to be released on December 25th.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is Here
Master director James Cameron reveals a darker side of Pandora in this installment of the series, taking the story to an ashen region of the planet. Jake and Neytiri struggle to keep their family together after the death of their son, Neteyam.
In the process, they encounter the Na’vi tribe known as the “Mangkwan,” the people of fire. Amidst political tensions and cultural clashes, the Sully family grapples with both external threats and internal grief and guilt.
The film stars Sam Worthington (Jake Sully), Zoe Saldaña (Neytiri), Sigourney Weaver (Kiri), and Stephen Lang (Quaritch), all of whom are familiar from previous films. Joining the cast this time is Oona Chaplin, who plays Varang, the leader of the Ash People. They are also joined by Britain Dalton, Cliff Curtis, Giovanni Ribisi, Edie Falco, and CCH Pounder.
The first film in the Avatar series grossed $2.9 billion, and the second $2.3 billion. Given the success of the previous installments, expectations for the third film are also quite high. Whether the film lives up to these expectations remains to be seen when it hits theaters on December 25th.
