Resident Evil Requiem, one of the most anticipated games of 2026, has released its long-awaited, first full-length gameplay trailer. The game’s developer, Capcom, shared this trailer at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 event, answering many questions players have been wondering about and raising expectations once again.
Resident Evil Requiem is here
The released gameplay trailer reveals the dramatic beginnings of the game’s main character, Grace Ashcroft. Grace, bound and hanging upside down, opens her eyes and realizes her blood is draining. Cleverly breaking a nearby bottle, Grace uses the sharp object to untie her arms and escape her captivity.
The series’ signature tension and suspense are evident later in the trailer. Players see a strong emphasis on environmental interaction as they navigate dark corridors.
Drawers are opened to find keys, which are then used to unlock doors. Various tools, such as lighters, are used to navigate the darkness, but the uneasiness of the corridors persists despite the light.
The gameplay trailer also offers important clues about the series’ enemies. In addition to the standard zombies, the team faces a large creature that appears even more terrifying than Nemesis. Escaping this monster, whose massive teeth are clearly visible, seems quite difficult.
Resident Evil Requiem begins with the discovery of an unidentified body in an abandoned hotel. Grace Ashcroft, assigned to the case, learns that her mother was murdered there eight years prior.
Grace’s only path to solving the situation at the hotel is to confront her painful past. The ninth installment in the series, poised to become one of the best zombie games, will be released on February 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
