Samsung is completely revamping the power saving feature on its smartphones with the One UI 8.5 update. The company will introduce a redesigned system that makes battery management flexible and user-friendly.
Samsung is changing the power saving mode
The power saving mode in One UI 8 featured only minor changes compared to One UI 7. However, this changes in One UI 8.5. The new mode comes with two separate profiles that offer additional customization options and a detailed overview.

In One UI 8, power saving was turned on and off with a single toggle. One UI 8.5 now offers two separate profiles with predefined features for battery saving. The standard Power Saving profile limits background network usage, syncing, and location control. Users have the ability to set new limits in addition to this standard profile.
The second option, Maximum Power Saving mode, takes a more aggressive approach. This profile restricts all background activity and notifications except for selected and essential apps.
This mode is designed to completely block background activity to extend battery life, nearly doubling the battery life. Both power-saving profiles display an estimated remaining battery time on the screen.
Users can customize the new modes to their own needs. Standard mode allows for additional limits, while Maximum mode allows users to specify essential apps so they don’t miss notifications. Samsung gives users greater control over battery management with One UI 8.5.
