There’s been an exciting development regarding Samsung’s next flagship series, the Galaxy S26. While rumors previously circulated that the company would discontinue the Galaxy S26+ and replace it with the Galaxy S26 Edge, recent reports suggest that Samsung has reconsidered this decision and may reinstate the Plus model. Here are the details.
Low Galaxy S25 Edge Sales Change Decision
According to a new Korean report, Samsung has resumed development of the Galaxy S26+ after considering the Galaxy S25 Edge’s lower-than-expected sales figures. This device, internally codenamed “M Plus,” is expected to launch early next year alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro (M1), Galaxy S26 Edge (M2), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (M3).

As is well known, the Galaxy S25 Edge was released a few months after the other phones in the series. This has given Samsung time to fully analyze its market success. Following incoming sales data, the company decided that keeping the Plus model in its lineup was the more prudent decision.
According to the report, Samsung planned to assemble 500,000 units for the Galaxy S25+ in the September-December quarter, while the same figure was set at 300,000 for the Galaxy S25 Edge. These figures clearly demonstrate that demand for the Galaxy S25+ is higher than for the Galaxy S25 Edge. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 had planned production of 2.9 million units, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra 3.4 million during the same period.
The total shipment target for the entire Galaxy S25 series (S25, S25+, S25 Ultra) was set at 37.7 million units. If the Galaxy S26 Edge sells one million fewer units than its predecessor, the Galaxy S25+, this would result in a significant loss of revenue for Samsung. Therefore, to avoid any risk, the company decided to bring back the Plus model, which has a more reliable market track record, in the Galaxy S26 series.
