Android Auto, the in-car platform for the Android operating system, continues to evolve. The platform has announced two new features: “Call Screening” and “Call Notes,” aimed at preventing drivers from being distracted while driving. These features follow the previously introduced call recording feature.
Android Auto Offers New Functions
Call Screening, a new feature, is particularly effective when receiving calls from unknown numbers or numbers not listed in the driver’s contact list. The system automatically asks the other party who they are and why they are calling.

The information it receives is instantly displayed to the driver. This allows the driver to assess the urgency and importance of the incoming call without distracting themselves from the road and decide whether to answer or decline accordingly. This innovation prevents unwanted or unimportant calls from compromising driving safety.
Another new feature, Call Notes, is optional. It automatically takes notes of the driver’s phone call. When the call ends, the system displays these important notes on the vehicle’s screen.
This feature was first introduced with the Pixel 9 series. Thanks to this note-taking mechanism, the driver doesn’t miss any important information or details the other party says during the call.
These two new features will begin rolling out to users shortly. In a similar development, Apple is also known to have introduced a feature similar to Call Screening with iOS 26. This move by Android Auto demonstrates the increasing competition in in-car technologies focused on driving safety and preventing distractions.
