Huawei is preparing to launch the Nova Flip S in an effort to strengthen its presence in the foldable phone market. The new device, which will be a successor to the brand’s current Nova Flip model, is particularly notable for its significant processor changes. Leaks suggest that the Nova Flip S will be powered by either the new Kirin 8020 or the latest-generation Kirin 8030 chipset.

This processor choice has the potential to provide a significant boost to the device’s overall performance. If the Kirin 8020 is used in the Nova Flip S, it is known to feature an architecture consisting of one main core clocked at 2.285 GHz, three performance cores clocked at 2.05 GHz, and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.3 GHz.

If the Kirin 8030 is used, this new chip is expected to offer higher clock speeds and improved 5G connection stability. This change will significantly improve the user experience compared to the Kirin 8000 processor in the standard Nova Flip. The new chip is also expected to improve thermal management and battery efficiency.
No major design changes are expected. The Nova Flip S will maintain a similar form factor to its predecessor, but will reportedly be available in a variety of new colors. The device is expected to be available in Sakura Pink, White, Sky Blue, Glossy Black, Sand Black, and Green.
The display specifications remain unchanged; the device will reportedly retain the 2.14-inch square cover display from its predecessor on the outside and the 6.94-inch main display on the inside. On the software front, the Nova Flip S will ship with HarmonyOS 5.1 out of the box. An official launch date has not yet been announced, but the device is expected to be unveiled in the fourth quarter of 2025.
