AltStore PAL, one of the first app stores to launch in the European Union as an alternative to Apple’s App Store, has decided to expand its geographic reach. According to developer Riley Testut, the highly sought-after alternative store will soon be available to iPhone users in more countries. This development is seen as a significant step for users seeking greater choice and flexibility within the Apple ecosystem.
AltStore PAL is being revamped
According to the plan, AltStore will launch in Japan, Brazil, and Australia by the end of this year. The next step in the expansion will be the United Kingdom in 2026. The developer team stated that launching in these countries is the most requested feature. However, they emphasized that final approval from Apple regarding the exact launch dates for the expansion is pending.

Geographic expansion isn’t the only innovation AltStore has announced. The company is also preparing a significant integration into decentralized social networks known as the “fediverse.” This system, based on the ActivityPub protocol, will allow apps, updates, and news to be shared directly on platforms like Mastodon and Threads. This feature will allow users to view their social media interactions (likes, comments, shares) directly within the AltStore app.
To fund all these innovative steps and global expansion, the company has also secured a significant investment. The $6 million investment from Pace Capital will be used to expand the team, complete the Fediverse integration, and expand AltStore’s reach to more users worldwide. This investment demonstrates the belief in the future of alternative app stores.
