Microsoft has put the brakes on the Xbox Game Pass subscription price increase it announced globally last week in some countries. The company officially confirmed that existing subscribers in certain markets, including Germany, Ireland, South Korea, and Poland, will not be affected by the increase for now. This decision will protect loyal users, especially those with automatic renewal orders, at the old price for a while longer.
Local Regulations Halt Xbox Game Pass Increase
Microsoft’s decision stems from consumer protection laws and local regulations in some countries. These laws, which prevent automatic increases in subscription prices without the user’s explicit consent, forced the company to adjust its strategy. In an email sent to subscribers in these countries, Microsoft stated, “Currently, these increases will only affect new subscription purchases. As long as your automatic renewal plan is active, your existing subscription will not be affected by this increase.”

Kari Perez, head of Xbox communications, commented on the matter, “Existing subscribers in certain countries will continue to renew at the old prices for the time being to comply with local regulations.” Perez also emphasized that users will be notified in advance before the price adjustments take effect in these countries. The notification will be made at least 60 days in advance, meaning players in these countries will continue to benefit from the current prices for at least two more months.
Among the countries where Microsoft has decided to postpone the release are markets such as Germany, Ireland, the UK, South Korea, Poland, Austria, Italy, Indonesia, and India. However, Turkey is not included in this list.
Therefore, unless otherwise stated, the increased tariff announced last week for Game Pass users in Turkey is expected to be implemented as planned. According to the new pricing, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in Turkey has been updated to 799 TL, PC Game Pass 449 TL, Game Pass Premium 409 TL, and Game Pass Essential 269 TL.
