Seven years after its launch in 2018, Suzuki’s iconic compact off-road vehicle, the Jimny, has been quietly updated in Japan. These changes for the 2026 model year focus on enhancing the vehicle’s functionality and safety features rather than radical design changes. It’s important to note that these updates apply only to the three-door version.
2026 Suzuki Jimny Unveiled
The 2026 Suzuki Jimny’s exterior design remains unchanged. The vehicle’s boxy silhouette remains intact, preserving its distinctive appearance. The real updates are reflected in the interior and driving technologies.
The driver’s instrument cluster now features a 4.2-inch digital display nestled between analog dials. A 9-inch multimedia screen, similar to the Suzuki Swift, is also available as an option.
More importantly, the three-door Jimny has now caught up with the five-door version in terms of safety standards. Features such as lane departure warning, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition, and new cybersecurity measures have been added as standard.
Additionally, the Dual Sensor Brake Assist II system has been added to the safety features. Adaptive cruise control and reverse start prevention are now standard on models with automatic transmissions.
There are no changes to the Jimny’s engine options. The “Kei” version comes with a 63-horsepower, 658cc, three-cylinder turbo engine. Under the hood of the Jimny Sierra, available for global markets, is a 103-horsepower, 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine.
Both engines can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The part-time all-wheel drive system, which underpins the Jimny’s legendary off-road capability, remains standard.
The updated Suzuki Jimny is now available for order in Japan. Prices have increased by approximately $1,000 to $2,000 compared to the previous model. The standard Jimny has a price tag of $12,800–$14,400, while the Jimny Sierra is priced between $15,200–$15,900.
The optional 9-inch infotainment screen is priced at $860. The updated model is expected to be available in other international markets following its Japanese launch.
