Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been pushing the limits of capacity in recent years thanks to advancements in battery technology. A recent rumor has revealed that Redmi’s highly anticipated new model, the Redmi Turbo 5, could come with a massive battery that will last users days.
New Record for Flagship Battery
While rumors previously circulated that the device would pack a battery capacity of around 7,500 mAh, well-known leakster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has raised the bar even higher with a recent post on Weibo. The Redmi Turbo 5 could be powered by a massive 9,000 mAh battery.

Considering the same source’s previous estimate of 7,500 mAh, it’s possible that the 9,000 mAh capacity could be for a higher-end model of the Redmi Turbo 5 series (perhaps the Turbo 5 Pro).
While 7,500 mAh is already among the largest batteries available for a smartphone, it appears these affordable high-performance/budget gaming phones will outpace even today’s flagship devices, which push the 7,000 mAh limit. DCS also added that a smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery has been tested.
The Redmi Turbo 5’s expected specifications also support the device’s overall performance-focused design. The Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC is expected to be at the heart of the phone. This chipset aims to deliver a powerful performance experience in the mid- to upper-midrange segment.
Despite the massive battery, the smartphone is expected to support 100W wired fast charging to ensure users don’t have to worry about charging times. Leaked details include IP6 dust and water resistance, a metal mid-frame, and a modern under-display fingerprint reader.
