The iOS 26.2 beta has finally been released to developers. Apple has launched a new beta cycle for its mobile, tablet, watch, TV, and mixed reality operating systems. However, there’s a significant omission in this release wave that concerns Mac users: the first developer build of macOS Tahoe 26.2 hasn’t been released yet.
What’s New in the iOS 26.2 Beta
With the first developer build of iOS 26.2, Apple is adding a number of important features to the Podcast and Apple News apps. These updates aim to significantly improve the user experience. The new version also includes a new setting that allows users to customize the clock display on the Lock Screen.

iOS 26.2 beta 1 makes the Podcast app more user-friendly for creators and listeners. Episode titles will now be automatically generated for podcast episodes, making it easier for users to navigate between episodes. You can also see and follow other podcasts mentioned in the Podcast app directly from the player or transcript. Additionally, the “From This Episode” feature will allow you to quickly access links shared in the podcast from the episode page.
The Apple News app is being enhanced with four new sections: Sports, Puzzles, Politics, and Food. These sections will allow users to access a wider variety of content based on their interests. Additionally, the iOS 26.2 beta introduces a “Liquid Glass” slider for the lock screen. This slider allows users to adjust the opacity of the clock on the lock screen to their personal preferences.
macOS Tahoe 26.2 Release Delayed
Although Apple simultaneously released the 26.2 betas for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, the first developer version of macOS Tahoe 26.2 has not yet been released. This has created an unexpected situation for Mac developers and users. The macOS beta is expected to be released in the coming days, but no specific date has been announced.
