Qualcomm’s powerful processors for Windows PCs may soon power the Android ecosystem. According to a new claim, the company is actively testing Snapdragon X for Android PC compatibility. This development could bridge the gap between the mobile and PC worlds.
How did the Android PC project come about?
The first signs of this project were revealed at the Snapdragon Summit event, attended by Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and Google’s Rick Osterloh. Osterloh stated, “In the past, the systems we developed for PCs and those we developed for phones were very different. Now, we’ve started a project that will bridge that gap.” These statements pointed to next-generation Android PCs.

Recent claims confirm that Snapdragon X processors are at the heart of this project. Qualcomm is reportedly working to make its Snapdragon X and Snapdragon X Elite platforms, which are typically Windows-focused, compatible with Android PCs. This move could pave the way for high-performance Android laptops.
If the work progresses as planned, the first Android PC models powered by Snapdragon X processors are expected to be available in 2026. Furthermore, next-generation Snapdragon X processors are also planned to support this new infrastructure from day one. Google and Qualcomm are expected to make a competitive price-performance statement with these new computers.
