Google has added another innovation to its technology landscape. The company is introducing a new Pinterest-like “Images” tab to the Google app. This new tab allows users to discover, share, and save images based on their interests. The feature will be available to Google app users on both Android and iOS platforms.
A new Pinterest-like “Images” tab is coming to the Google app
The new “Images” tab was first introduced in May of this year and began beta testing in June. After months of testing, the feature has now begun rolling out to all users in the United States (US). The rollout is currently limited to the US. There is no official announcement yet regarding when the feature will be available in global markets or in Turkey.

The primary purpose of this new tab is to provide users with a personalized feed of images based on their interests. When users first open the app, they will be prompted to select topics that interest them. Based on these selections, Google will create a personalized feed using publicly available images from Google Search. Users can browse this feed, find images they’re inspired by, or search for more.
The new tab offers users a variety of interaction options. Long-pressing an image reveals options to share it, save it to a collection, or search with Google Lens. Users will also be able to hide images they don’t want to see in their feed. This tab will be added to the app’s bottom section, alongside the existing “Home,” “Search,” “Notifications,” and “Activity” tabs.
The company stated that the feature’s rollout in the US will be complete in the next few weeks. It’s interesting to see how this new Pinterest-like feature will impact visual search and discovery habits. So, do you find such a visual feed tab useful in the Google app?
