AMD has announced ambitious targets to capitalize on the rapid growth in the AI and data center chip markets. The company plans to more than triple its profits by 2030. At its first analyst day in three years in New York, AMD CEO Lisa Su announced that they expect the data center chip market to reach $1 trillion by that time.
AMD raises its target
Su says that AI will be the primary driver of this significant growth, stating, “The data center is the biggest growth opportunity, and AMD is very well positioned in this area.”

The company’s chief financial officer, Jean Hu, stated that AMD expects its overall business to grow by 35 percent annually over the next three to five years, while its data center business will grow by 60 percent. Earnings per share are expected to rise to $20 during the same period. For comparison, LSEG forecasts AMD’s 2025 earnings per share at $2.68.
AMD’s data center chip revenue is expected to reach $100 billion within the next five years. The company will launch its next-generation MI400 series AI chips in 2026.
These chips offer different variants for scientific applications and generative AI. Along with the MI400 chips, AMD also plans to launch a full server rack similar to Nvidia’s GB200 NVL72.
In his opening remarks, CEO Su also highlighted the company’s recent AI-related acquisitions. These include server manufacturer ZT Systems and a number of smaller software companies.
Referring to these acquisitions, Su said AMD has become an “M&A machine.” In recent months, AMD has acquired startups that develop the software needed to run AI applications. In addition to these acquisitions, the company announced the acquisition of a startup called MK1 on Monday.
