Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated new film, Frankenstein, has made a record-breaking debut on Netflix, its digital platform. Blending the classic story with the renowned filmmaker’s signature gothic touches, the film has been met with considerable interest from viewers.
Frankenstein Draws Huge Hits
The film garnered significant viewership in its first three days on the platform, achieving one of the best openings of the year for a Netflix original.

Frankenstein reached 29.1 million views on Netflix in just three days. Despite its release late in the week, the film topped the list of the most-watched films of that week. This strong performance demonstrates the film’s strong global reception. It currently holds the top spot among the most-watched films in 72 countries.
Opening with 29.1 million views, Frankenstein achieved the fifth-highest opening among Netflix’s 2025 films. With this number of viewership figures, the film surpassed notable previous releases on the platform, such as The Electric State, A House of Dynamite, and The Thursday Murder Club. Only Back in Action, Happy Gilmore 2, The Old Guard 2, and Havoc opened better than Frankenstein.
The film’s diverse cast also plays a significant role in its appeal. Oscar Isaac plays Dr. Victor Frankenstein, while young actor Jacob Elordi portrays Frankenstein’s monster. The cast also includes well-known filmmakers such as Christoph Waltz, Mia Goth, and Charles Dance.
