While other semi-trailer brands hide delays and missed deadlines behind press releases and fake updates, Volvo Trucks is positioning itself as the leader in the heavy-duty electric vehicle (EV) market thanks to both its high market share and its certified dealer network, which has grown 8,200% in ten years.
Sales Network Expands Rapidly
From launching in July 2021 with TEC Equipment in Fontana as the sole certified EV dealer, Volvo Trucks’ Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) sales network has rapidly expanded to 83 certified locations across 33 US states and four Canadian provinces. Four new dealer groups recently joined the program, and an additional 13 are in the certification process.

This dealer network has helped Volvo Trucks establish a leading position in the global market and maintain a market share of more than 30% in the North American electric truck segment over the past five years.
Peter Voorhoeve, President of Volvo Trucks North America, said reaching this milestone is “a testament to our customers’ commitment to sustainable transportation and the dedication of our dealer network to support them every step of the way.” While acknowledging the slow pace of market development, Voorhoeve added:
“The path to zero emissions is shaped by slow-moving market conditions. We remain committed to our vision of creating a world we want to live in by combining zero-emission solutions with fuel-efficient internal combustion engines that reduce climate impact. These solutions will work for our customers, where sustainability meets affordability.”
To date, these dealers have launched more than 700 battery-electric semi-trailers (over 5,700 globally). These trucks have driven more than 20 million zero-emission kilometers and prevented an estimated 34,000 metric tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere. This is equivalent to preventing the environmental damage of more than 7,000 passenger cars.
