The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has received applications for the Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) competition for solar power plants (SPPs). Investors showed strong interest in the competition for eight YEKA SPPs with a total capacity of 650 MWe. A total of 77 applications were submitted from 38 companies for YEKA SPP-2025. Eleven applications were submitted for the Demirköprü Floating Solar Power Plant, Turkey’s first floating solar power plant.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, “We will hold the YEKA 2025 competitions before the end of the year. We expect these competitions to be highly competitive, including with international investors. I wish success to the companies participating in the competitions.”

Applications Completed

The application process for solar power plants in the YEKA model, which was launched to achieve Turkey’s renewable energy targets, has been completed. The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources received 77 separate applications from 38 companies for eight YEKA SPPs in seven cities.

Within the scope of YEKA Solar Power Plant 2025, a total of 650 MWe of connection capacity located in Bolu, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Van, and Manisa will be allocated to investors following a competition. The YEKA Solar Power Plant 2025 competitions are scheduled to take place next week following a detailed review of the documents.

The starting ceiling price for a total of eight competitions in YEKA Solar Power Plant 2025 has been set at 5.50 Euro cents per kWh, and the floor price at 3.25 Euro cents per kWh. If the floor price is reached in all competitions, the starting price for the contribution fee increase per MW will be 10,000 Euros.

Electricity generated at the solar power plants can be sold on the free market for 60 months from the contract signing date. After the free market sales period expires, a 20-year electricity purchase period will begin.

Eleven applications were received for the Demirköprü Floating Solar Power Plant, which has earned the title of Turkey’s first floating solar power plant. Last year, an amendment to the Coastal Law paved the way for the construction of renewable energy production plants in seas, dam lakes, artificial lakes, and natural lakes. As part of YEKA Solar Power Plant-2025, a 35 MWe capacity will be allocated for the installation of floating solar power plants in the Demirköprü HEPP reservoir area in Manisa.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they have surpassed 38,000 megawatts in installed solar and wind capacity and aim to reach 120,000 megawatts by 2035. He said, “To confidently advance towards our goal, we launched the new YEKA model at the beginning of this year. We held the first solar and wind competitions at the beginning of this year. We will also hold the YEKA 2025 competitions before the end of the year. We expect highly competitive competitions, including competitions with international investors.
