AMD has officially confirmed the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, a model that has been rumored in tech circles for a long time. This confirmation came on the company’s French driver page, and the listing of the processor’s name confirmed the arrival of a new Zen 5-based update to the X3D series. This model is one of the two anticipated new chips in the series, along with the previously leaked 9950X3D2.
AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D confirmed
The new Ryzen 7 9850X3D positions itself above the existing 9800X3D model and maintains its 8-core, 16-thread configuration. The most striking detail is its clock speeds. The processor boasts a boost frequency of up to 5.6 GHz.

This represents a significant 400 MHz increase over the previous model, making a significant difference, particularly in single-core performance. On the cache front, it comes with 96MB of L3 cache thanks to its 3D V-Cache architecture. The processor’s Thermal Design Power (TDP) is set at 120W, indicating a similar power range to the previous generation.
Leaks also reveal details about the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, the highest-end option in the series. This chip features a dual 3D V-Cache design and a full 192MB L3 cache. The TDP of this 16-core model is stated to be 200W.
Both Zen 5-based processors will run on the AM5 platform and significantly improve gaming performance. AMD has not yet announced an official launch date for these new processors. However, market expectations suggest that they will be unveiled alongside the Ryzen 9000G series at CES 2026.
