Xiaomi’s new Xiaomi Watch 5 has officially launched in China, combining luxury design with advanced health tracking and gesture control. It’s available in multiple finishes and even offers an optional 3D-printed titanium band, giving it a high-end feel without abandoning smart functionality.
Xiaomi Watch 5 delivers health sensors and gesture tricks
At the heart of the Watch 5 are two standout sensors: ECG for heart rhythm tracking and EMG for muscle activity detection. That EMG sensor unlocks unique gesture-based controls you can pinch fingers or clench your fist to answer calls, silence alarms, or snap photos via a connected phone.
These interactions push the watch beyond simple taps and swipes, offering hands-free input that’s both functional and futuristic.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500 surfaces on Geekbench, showing only modest gains over the 8400 about 7% in CPU performance, with near-identical specs.
Display, design, and build options
The Xiaomi Watch 5 sports a 1.54-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 480 x 480 resolution and peak brightness of 1,500 nits, making it readable even in bright daylight. The screen is protected by sapphire glass, adding scratch resistance and elegance.
The case measures 47mm and is paired with different strap options:
- Black or silver case with rubber band (~$285)
- eSIM model with leather band (~$330)
- Optional 3D-printed titanium band (+$110)
That titanium band is 3D-printed for both strength and lightness an unusual but welcome option in the smartwatch space.
Xiaomi Watch 5 runs HyperOS with solid battery life
Under the hood, the watch runs on Qualcomm’s W5 chipset and carries a 930mAh battery, which promises up to six days of use in performance mode. At the same time, it runs HyperOS 3, Xiaomi’s own software ecosystem, and, on top of that, supports full waterproofing up to 5 ATM.
