Tech giant Xiaomi has made a stunning entry into the automotive world, with its Xiaomi electric car division achieving an incredible milestone just one year after launch. The company announced it has delivered over 400,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2025, positioning itself as a major competitor to established brands.
Xiaomi Electric Car Sales Break Records
This record-breaking performance was largely driven by a powerful sales surge in December 2025, where the company delivered more than 50,000 cars. This final push easily took Xiaomi past its annual target, building on the 361,625 units sold in the first eleven months of the year.
The journey began with the launch of the SU7 sedan on March 28, 2024. With its sleek design and high-tech interior, the SU7 quickly proved its popularity, selling 12,520 units in November 2025 alone. However, the model that truly ignited sales was its SUV sibling, the YU7.
Introduced in June 2025 as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 completely changed the market dynamics. According to CEO Lei Jun, the YU7 surpassed 150,000 deliveries just six months after its launch. It notably accounted for 33,729 of the total deliveries in November, clearly indicating a consumer shift towards the more spacious and practical SUV.
Future Plans: New Models and European Expansion
Xiaomi shows no signs of slowing down. The company plans to release two completely new models in 2026 featuring EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) technology, which uses a small gasoline engine to charge the battery while driving. These models will include a large 7-seater SUV and a more compact 5-seater SUV.
Furthermore, the existing SU7 sedan is also getting an update. In 2026, Xiaomi will launch a facelifted version of the SU7 to keep its design fresh, alongside a new “executive” version aimed at professionals seeking more luxury.
While Xiaomi cars are currently only available in China, this is set to change soon. The company has confirmed plans to enter the European market in 2027. Testing is already underway in Germany to ensure the vehicles comply with European safety and driving standards, setting the stage for direct competition with renowned European automakers on their home turf.
