As anticipation builds for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, new leaks suggest a highly anticipated feature may be missing. The latest information points to a significant change in the device’s approach to Galaxy S26 magnetic charging, potentially requiring users to rely on accessories for a feature many hoped would be integrated directly into the phone.
Will Galaxy S26 Magnetic Charging Require a Case?
Recently surfaced images of the official charger’s packaging provide a major clue. The text on the box reportedly states, “For Galaxy phones, be sure to use this charger with a Qi2 compatible case to enable charging.” This small but crucial detail strongly implies that the Galaxy S26 series will not have built-in magnets for accessories. Instead, users will likely need to purchase a specific case to use magnetic chargers and add-ons, a system similar to what was available for the Galaxy S25.
However, the leaks aren’t all disappointing. The same packaging reveals that the charger will support 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. This would be a substantial upgrade, as previous models were generally limited to 15W wireless charging speeds. Consequently, this means users can expect significantly faster wireless charging times for the new flagship series.

Design Leaks Hint at Minor Changes
In addition to the charging details, case images shared by reliable leaker Evan Blass offer a glimpse into the phone’s design. The renders, showing UAG-branded cases, confirm that the overall design of the Galaxy S26 will be very similar to its predecessor. The most noticeable difference is in the rear camera setup, where the individual camera lenses are now housed within a single, raised camera block rather than protruding separately.
Furthermore, the distinct rings visible on the back of these leaked cases reinforce the theory about the charging system. These rings are designed to align with the magnets in Qi2 chargers, confirming that the magnetic functionality will be part of the case, not the phone itself.
We won’t have to wait long to find out the official details. Samsung is expected to formally announce the Galaxy S26 series at an event scheduled for February 25th. Until then, these leaks will continue to shape expectations for the company’s next major smartphone release.
