Xiaomi has begun rolling out the highly anticipated HyperOS 3 update to Xiaomi 13 Lite users. This new Android 15-based version includes many exciting features and upgrades across the system. However, this version marks the final major HyperOS update for Xiaomi 13 Lite users.
Android 15-Based HyperOS 3 Released for Xiaomi 13 Lite
The smartphone was released in early 2023 with the Android 12 operating system out of the box. Since then, the device has received three different Android operating system updates and is currently running Android 15. According to official statements, the phone’s software support will end in August 2026, and the device will complete the remainder of its life cycle with Android 15.

The HyperOS 3 update is being distributed to Xiaomi 13 Lite users in different regions with specific software versions: Global (OS3.0.1.0.VLLMIXM), Europe (OS3.0.2.0.VLLEUXM), Turkey (OS3.0.1.0.VLLTRXM), Taiwan (OS3.0.1.0. VLLTWXM), and Russia (OS3.0.1.0.VLLRUXM). Users can check for the update by going to the “My Device” section in the settings menu and tapping on the HyperOS logo at the top. Since the rollout is being done in specific batches, it may take a few days for the update to reach all devices.
Although not as feature-rich as Android 16-based software, HyperOS 3, which comes with Android 15, offers users many visual improvements and new features. This version also adds the new Hyper Island feature to devices, which facilitates access to information and multitasking capabilities.

The update package includes new icons, battery and signal indicators, improved animations, and blur effects applied throughout the system. HyperOS 3 also enhances integration with Apple devices, offering iPhone call and SMS forwarding as well as screen sharing support with MacBook.
The new version notes integrate new features such as AI writing, voice translation, noise reduction for voice recordings, dynamic wallpapers, and AI-powered photo search in the gallery. In addition, infrastructure changes have resulted in a 30% increase in device performance.
HyperOS 3 will be the last major update for the Xiaomi 13 Lite, and security patch support for the device will end completely after August 2026. Although the phone may receive one or two minor security patches after this date, it will definitely not receive versions such as HyperOS 3.1 or 4.0. Even if the device continues to work after the end of its useful life, it will be vulnerable to security breaches, putting users with critical data at significant risk. It is recommended to switch to newer models that promise updates for up to 6 years to receive security patches and the latest features. What are your thoughts on this situation? Which phone are you currently using, and is the end of your device’s update lifespan a reason for you to consider upgrading?
