iPhone Models Are Scheduled to Receive the iOS 27 Update

Apple maintains its tradition of providing extended software life for its hardware, ensuring that even older devices remain functional within the ecosystem. According to reports, the iPhone 12 series, which debuted in 2020, remains fully compatible with the new software after six years of active service. Most modern devices from the iPhone 12 series and newer will receive the upcoming iOS 27 software transition.

The confirmed list of compatible devices includes the following series:

iPhone 17 and 16 Series: This includes the iPhone 17, 17e, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 17 Air, along with the iPhone 16, 16e, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max.

iPhone 15 and 14 Series: All models within these generations, including standard, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max variants, retain full compatibility.

iPhone 13, 12 and SE Series: The iPhone 13 lineup, the iPhone 12 lineup, and the third-generation iPhone SE are slated to receive the update.

Popular iPhone Models Are Excluded from the New Update

As hardware requirements evolve alongside sophisticated artificial intelligence features, Apple has decided to end support for several older models. The most notable omission is the iPhone 11 series, which has been a staple for millions of users worldwide. These devices, powered by the A13 Bionic chip, are reportedly reaching their functional limits regarding the intensive demands of modern iOS architecture.

The iPhone 11 series and the 2020 iPhone SE will no longer receive major operating system updates.

Users still utilizing the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, or the second-generation iPhone SE will remain on the final versions of iOS 26. While these devices may continue to receive critical security patches for a limited time, they will miss out on the new interface enhancements and system-wide AI tools.

New Features Are Being Introduced to Improve Device Performance

Rather than focusing solely on visual aesthetics, Apple is prioritizing infrastructure stability in iOS 27.
