Xiaomi Launches Compact Mijia Ice Maker Producing Ice in 8 Minutes
Xiaomi has officially expanded its Mijia smart home appliance collection by introducing a new portable ice maker designed for efficiency and convenience. Currently available for pre-order on the Xiaomi Youpin platform at a price point of 359 yuan, the device is scheduled for a wider market release on August 17. The compact appliance measures 290 x 260 x 210 mm, making it an ideal addition for kitchens, offices, or outdoor settings where space is limited. With its 6.1 kg weight and efficient 110W power consumption, the machine offers a versatile solution for users seeking quick cooling options in various environments.

Efficiency and Cooling Performance Define the Device
Engineered for speed, the Xiaomi Mijia ice maker provides two distinct operation modes: Fast Ice and Standard Ice. The Fast Ice mode delivers ready-to-use cubes in approximately six to eight minutes, whereas the Standard mode focuses on creating larger, clearer, and more dense ice cubes. 
By utilizing a specialized freezing technique, the machine effectively reduces air bubbles and impurities, ensuring that the ice maintains a slow melt rate—lasting up to seven minutes in 300 ml of liquid—thereby preserving the integrity of beverages like coffee and cocktails.
The machine is capable of generating 13 kilograms of ice per day, ensuring consistent supply for high-demand scenarios.
The internal architecture consists of a 1-liter water reservoir and a removable 0.75-liter basket, which can accommodate between 64 and 80 ice cubes simultaneously. 
For optimal performance and longevity, Xiaomi recommends that users exclusively employ purified or filtered water. The unit’s cooling system relies on the R600a refrigerant, maintaining high thermal efficiency while adhering to modern environmental standards.
Hygiene and Maintenance Protocols Remain a Priority
Recognizing the importance of cleanliness in food-grade appliances, Xiaomi has integrated a UV sterilization lamp into the system. 
To initiate the five-minute self-cleaning cycle, users simply need to press and hold the Ice Making and Reservation buttons for three seconds. This automated process ensures that internal components remain sanitary between uses, significantly reducing manual maintenance requirements.
A built-in scheduling feature allows users to delay the ice production process by three, five, or eight hours.
The intuitive control panel features clear LED indicators to monitor water levels, UV status, and operational modes. Furthermore, the inclusion of a transparent window on the top lid allows users to observe ice levels without interrupting the freezing cycle. For added convenience, a dedicated storage compartment for the included ice scoop is located directly on the unit, keeping the workspace organized and efficient.
