Vodafone and DAMAC Digital Launch $100 Million Izmir Data Center
Vodafone Turkey and global digital infrastructure provider DAMAC Digital have officially inaugurated the new Izmir Data Center in a significant move to bolster Turkey’s digital infrastructure. The facility, which represents a $100 million initial investment, was opened in Gaziemir with the participation of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. As the sixth facility of its kind for Vodafone in Turkey, this 7,500-square-meter center is designed to enhance national data sovereignty while providing critical support for cloud computing and artificial intelligence workloads. Capacity Will Be Expanded to 20 MW
Long-term strategic plans for the site involve a significant expansion of the current resources. The stakeholders intend to scale the total investment to $300 million as the operational capacity is gradually increased to 20 MW. This expansion is expected to transform the Aegean region into a primary hub for data traffic and high-speed connectivity within the Mediterranean basin, attracting both local and global technology firms to the area.
Tier III Standards Support Artificial Intelligence
Constructed in accordance with Tier III international design criteria, the facility guarantees high levels of operational continuity and power stability. Beyond standard cloud and cybersecurity offerings, the center is engineered to handle the heavy processing demands of modern technology. The infrastructure provides full compatibility with next-generation GPU hardware, enabling companies to run deep learning and generative artificial intelligence models locally with minimal latency.
Vodafone Strengthens Its National Infrastructure
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in the Turkish market with over 600 billion TL in total investments, Vodafone continues to scale its network capabilities. With the addition of the Izmir facility, the company now operates six data centers across the country, processing over 100 petabytes of data monthly.
