Apple Music Liquid Glass Redesign Rolls Out to Android in 7.0

Apple Music 7.0 for Android brings the Apple Music Liquid Glass redesign with a floating bottom bar, a new black or white icon and blue accents.

Apple Music Liquid Glass design is now rolling out to Android. Version 7.0 of the app reached Google Play users widely on October 30, 2026, after about a month of public beta testing, bringing Apple’s translucent iPhone-style interface and the service’s new black-or-white icon to Android phones, 9to5Google reports.

Apple first introduced Liquid Glass with iOS 26 in 2025 and carried it into iOS 27. Until now, Apple Music on Android kept its older layout, with the mini-player docked to the bottom bar and red accents throughout.

What Changes in the Apple Music Liquid Glass Update?

The most visible change is navigation. The bottom bar now floats above the content, so you can see what sits above, below and beside it. A light translucency effect mostly lets solid colors show through. The mini-player gets the same treatment and now floats as a separate element instead of being attached to the tab bar.

There is one difference from the iPhone version: on Android, the bar does not shrink into a compact pill when you scroll. Other changes include:

    • New icon and accent color: the music note icon now appears in black or white depending on your device theme, replacing the red background, and the app’s accent color switches to blue.
    • Edge-to-edge layout: the app now extends behind Android’s status and navigation bars.
    • Cleaner top bars: page titles and the three-dot menu share one line, and the menu icons now sit in neutral circular buttons.
    • Library tools: “Edit Pins” and “Edit Categories” have moved into the three-dot menu.
    • Artist pages: backgrounds now take their color from the artist’s cover image, with a larger play button, an info page and Share in the top-right corner, matching iOS.
    • Settings: a modernized page with better grouping.

The Now Playing screen is largely unchanged, which mirrors iOS, where that screen also did not get a major overhaul.

    Why Version 7.0?

Apple recently switched Apple Music for Android to a version numbering system that tracks iOS. That is why the app jumps to 7.0, the same number as the iOS 27 generation. Apple shipped the same design to testers first: the 7.0 beta arrived at the end of September through the app’s Google Play beta program.

The move is notable because Google has kept Android on its own Material 3 Expressive design language, as seen in releases like Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3. Apple is instead bringing its own look to the one major app it maintains on Android, keeping the experience consistent for people who switch between an iPhone and an Android phone.

How to Get Apple Music 7.0 on Android

The update is rolling out through the Google Play Store. If it has not appeared yet, open Play Store, go to Manage apps and device, and check for updates. The redesign arrives as competition in music streaming keeps shifting toward new features, with Spotify reportedly preparing an AI remix tool for 2027. On Apple’s side, the iPhone app continues to evolve with each update, such as the recent iOS 27.2 release candidate.
