Android 17 Release Date: When Will Your Phone Get the Update?

The Android 17 release date depends on who made your phone. Google shipped Android 17 to Pixel phones on June 16, 2026, Samsung began its One UI 9 rollout with the Galaxy S26 in September, and OnePlus, Oppo and Realme started their ColorOS 17 updates on October 29. Vivo, iQOO, Nothing and Xiaomi follow between October 2026 and February 2027. Here is the confirmed schedule by brand, as of October 31, 2026.
When Did Android 17 Come Out?
Google released the stable version of Android 17 on June 16, 2026, following four betas, according to the Android Developers Blog. That is earlier than the old September or October timing, because Google now ships major Android versions in the second quarter of the year and adds features through quarterly platform releases (QPRs). Google is already testing the next one, as covered in our report on Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3.
Other brands take longer because they build their own interfaces on top of Android, so most non-Pixel phones only started getting Android 17 this fall.

Samsung One UI 9 (Android 17) Schedule

When Will Xiaomi Get Android 17?
Xiaomi has only announced its China schedule so far, which usually signals the global order. The Xiaomi 17 series, Mix Flip 2, Redmi K90 series and Xiaomi Pad 8 updated on October 15. The Xiaomi 16 series and Redmi K80 Pro are scheduled for October 31, the Xiaomi 15 series and 14 Ultra for November 15, the Redmi Note 15 series for November 30, and the Xiaomi 14 and 13 series plus Redmi Note 14 and Note 13 models in December. Global dates have not been confirmed.
Motorola has not published a schedule either. Not every phone makes the cut: Sony, for example, cancelled Android 17 for the Xperia 10 VI.
How to Check for the Android 17 Update
Updates arrive in batches by region, so a friend’s identical phone may get it days before yours. To check manually, open Settings, go to System or Software update and tap the check for updates button. Back up your phone and keep at least 50% battery before installing a major update. If your phone is no longer supported, community builds such as LineageOS can sometimes help, as explained in our guide on installing Android 17 on old phones.
