OpenAI has started testing a brand new feature called “Tasks” for ChatGPT. Currently in its beta phase, this feature allows you to use ChatGPT as a personal digital assistant. With Tasks, you can set up regular reminders, notifications, and other alerts. Here’s what you need to know about this exciting new feature…
ChatGPT is becoming more proactive
The Tasks feature integrates ChatGPT’s responses with a calendar. For instance, you could learn about the weather at 7 AM, get a reminder to renew your library books monthly, or receive notifications to ensure you don’t forget your coworkers’ birthdays.

However, this feature doesn’t just manage the reminders you set—it also offers suggestions based on your conversation. For example, if you mention a trip, it might remind you to grab your passport, arrange for a dog sitter, or check the ocean view at the hotel where you made a reservation. All these suggestions are activated only with your approval.
Tasks are currently only available on ChatGPT’s web interface, with notifications for completed tasks appearing both on your computer and phone. Users can manage up to 10 active tasks at a time and can edit or cancel these tasks at any time.
What do you think about this new feature? Could ChatGPT taking on more of a digital assistant role improve the user experience? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
