YouTube App Automatically Redirects to the Shorts Tab

A bug in the YouTube app is causing some users to be redirected straight to the Shorts tab when they open the app, with videos playing automatically. As of now, YouTube has not made any official comments on this issue.

Users have been complaining for a while that the YouTube mobile app takes them directly to the Shorts tab instead of the homepage upon launch. This issue was initially reported when the last watched content was a Short, but in recent days, it appears to happen regardless of previous activity, with the Shorts tab opening by default every time.

The exact number of users affected by this bug remains unknown. However, some users claim to have resolved the issue by selecting “Uninstall Updates” from the Google Play Store. Others report that clearing the app’s data and cache provides a temporary fix.

According to posts shared on platforms like Reddit, the issue seems to primarily affect Android devices. So far, there have been no reports of this problem occurring on iPhones.
