In September, Apple launched the iPhone 16 series with a focus on enhancing the photography experience by including a new Camera Control button. This button, designed for functions like zooming before taking a photo, is finally getting a long-awaited feature with the iOS 18.2 update.
Unlock Your Camera Even When the Screen is Locked
One of the standout features introduced in the iOS 18.2 beta update is the ability to use the camera control button to launch the camera even when the iPhone is locked or in Always-On mode. Previously, the button could only activate the camera when the screen was unlocked. With this update, users can now access the camera without unlocking their phone.
This new feature has sparked curiosity among users, with many wondering why it wasn’t available earlier. Apple has been known to introduce features gradually. For instance, the Apple Intelligence suite is being rolled out in phases and is expected to be fully available on compatible devices by April.
According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the stable iOS 18.2 update, including the Camera Control button enhancement, is set to launch in December.
